The Bible tells us in the first book of Timothy (1Timothy – Chapter 6 and verse 9) - ‘But those wwho want to get rich fall into temptation and are caught in the trap of many foolish and harmful desires, which pull them down to ruin and destruction.’
Money is not a bad thing, the love of money is. Very often we are not willing to wait in prayer for the things God want to give us, we are rather in a hurry. Even when we do get some money, we want to spend it on things that are unnecessary and insignificant. The desire to ‘keep up with the Jones’ is a very dangerous thing. Many times we don’t realise that the people we are trying to compete with are themselves broke and are in deep down in debts.
It is best to keep away from habits that lead to more spending on our part. It is wise to save a little whenever possible. All things including money comes from God and it is a gift to us. We need to therefore make use of what God gives us wisely. The word of God tells us that if we are faithful in little, God will give us more to rule over.
